Looking Back

While I'm not wholly satisfied with how this semester went for me, I'm still very proud of the work that I made and eager to keep experimenting with new materials. It's been a challenge trying to remind myself to judge my work with time constraints and other limiting factors in mind, as I'm usually the type of person who wants to pour hours into a piece until I feel well and truly done.

I enjoyed branching out of my comfort zone, finding unique ways to imbue my personality into each medium I tried. With a greater grasp on the breadth of what constitutes "art," I feel better equipped to encourage my future students as well.

I feel that I didn't quite achieve my goal of making "weird" art this semester, but I don't feel too bad about that. I made silly art. Personal art. Experimental art. As the old adage goes, one must know the rules in order to break them, and I feel that applies here in its own way. When I revisited sound, I made a piece that was much more open to interpretation than my first, and I get the feeling that the more I work with these mediums, the more I'll be able to break into new and weird ways to use them.

Overall, I'm pleased with my art, and feel this semester has left me with a greater appreciation for art in all forms.
