This piece started out with me ideating about what I might like to make for a piece involving light. I often use glowing effects in my digital art, with glowing eyes and abilities being a frequent motif (and sometimes guilty pleasure) in the characters I design (usually the villainous ones)

One of my first ideas involved one such character, but I wasn't sold on the idea.

I decided to turn to an old sketchbook in search of ideas, which led me to a doodle I had previously created with while trying to experiment with creating glow effects using markers. After testing a light behind it, I decided this would be the character and composition for my piece.

My final drawing is one that I'm incredibly proud of. I feel that I truly managed to sell the effect I was going so, perhaps even moreso with the light off than with it on. I chose not to make my piece interactive like many of the examples we were shown, as I wanted to focus primarily on how I could enhance the light's effect with my rendering. In the end, I feel that even without the wiring itself, this project pushed me to try something new with my art, as I didn't want such a novel medium to go to waste. I believe this is something that may be beneficial in classrooms as well, with the potential for students to be inspired by the medium itself.
